Why did the Egyptian's mummify their dead?

The reason why they mummify the people is to preserve the body for the after life.
So that the body doesn't decay. This way the body will be ready for the afterlife.
They mummify the dead so it would't rote in the after life. And they had to makeup on.
Egyptians mummiyfied their dead because they thought they would go to the afterlife and relive again. They also mummiyfied the dead so they wouldn't or stink.

That was so fun, but i didnt really get themakeup part. The egyptians thought the body did everything right in the process of the mummification and the body would be taken to the underworld. Were they would weigh your heart and see if you had a good life or a bad life. If you had a bad life then you would be turned into a demon and rot. If you lived a good life then you would go to the land of the dead and live eternally.
I think that the Egyptians mummified the bodies because if the heart can't find the body then the body is a demon. but if the heart could find the body, then the body can live in the land of the dead. They also can live in eternal life
I think that the egyptians mummified the pharaohs bodys to show there respect to the pharaohs. they also did it so that the pharoahs could go to the after life.

That was totally awesome! The egyptians thought that if you mummified the body and did everything correctly in the mummifying process that the body would be taken to the Underworld where they would way your heart with the feather of Ma-at and then he would go to Osiris where he would decide if he had a good life or a bad life. If they had a good life they would go to the Land of Death so they live eternity in paradise, but they had a bad life they would be turned into a demon and would spend eternity like that.

The ancient Egyptians did that because they thought the people would enter the afterlife, and they wanted the spirit of the mummy to be able to fid the body.
