As we continue in our study of algebra I hope that we begin to see how it can be used outside of the classroom. Your assignment this morning is to create a real-life word problem that uses algebra.

After you have posted your problem please solve three problems that other students have created. When posting your answers be sure to thoroughly explain your answers.

Good luck!
Mr. Ferrell

Savannah's problem

Y=17
Because they saw 24 birds total, and in order to find how many birds they saw flying is to subtract the 7 ducks, and that equals 17.

Chichi is buying tacos and Banana Cabanas for his daughter’s cinsineta. He called up his Madre, and asked how many tacos and Banana Cabanas to buy. She said, “126 tacos and Banana Cabanas should be enough.” Chichi decided to go with what his Madre suggested. “But how many tacos should I buy?” he thought, “And how many Banana Cabanas?” He decided to make 4 batches of 7. How many tacos does Chichi still have to make?
